Untitled II

IIn collaboration with Michael Sherin and Aoife Mac Namara, Andrew Kearney relocated elements of Botanical Research Terrace to the Waterloo Terrace of the Royal National Theatre on London’s South bank.

This live performance and installation produce an investigative and experimental space within which artists and audiences could think about the history of the architecture in and around Denys Lasdun’s Royal National Theatre.

Untitled II

The work explored how the history of a building can be understood as a series of knowledges and understandings produced from the everyday experiences of those of us who lead our lives within the architecture of the built environment.

Audio descriptions are a thread from which the spoken word performative elements of the installation have been developed. The inclusion of audio description has allowed us to think about how architecture is experienced by people who are blind or visually impaired.
